NC, UML coalition for political stability, Communications Minister says

Damauli – Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the current coalition of the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (UML) was formed to ensure political stability and to maintain fiscal discipline.

Minister Gurung, who is also the assistant general secretary of CPN (UML), said the two major political parties have always forged consensus during the time of crisis in the country.

At a cadres’ meeting in the party office in Tanahun on Saturday, Minister Gurung argued that the coalition government was constituted to maintain political stability and to end public despair. “Frequent changes in the government had created a sort of despair among the citizens. We attempted to lead the nation towards stability from the two parties’ alliance,” according to Gurung.

Nothing miracle would happen after the formation of the two major parties’ alliance but the challenges seen in economy will be resolved gradually, he stated.

“Efforts have been made to address the problems. The government has moved ahead in the right manner,” Minister Gurung argued.

Likewise, he said that the government was committed to working to meet public aspirations.

NC and UML joined hands together to promulgate the constitution and in the protests against the Panchayat regime, he said, adding that the two parties are together in the government but would compete in the elections.(RSS)
